2. Use and maintenance Titolo tipologia DATA SHEET SGE 46 EN 140:1998 Pag. 2 May 2012 Wearing 1) Screw the selected filter into the threaded filter holder. 2) Pull the harness straps out fully. Position the upper harness on the head and fit the half-mask firmly over the face. Clip the hook onto the lower harness "D" ring behind the neck. 3) Adjust all straps until the mask fits perfectly. 4) Check that the fit is airtight and then enter the contaminated area. Leak test If you wish to use the half-mask in an environment contaminated with hazardous substances, always check air tightness as follows: press the palms of the hands against the discharge valve covers and exhale slowly. If the air does not escape from around the nose and mouth piece seal the fit is airtight. If air does escape, adjust the mask on the face and tighten the straps as necessary until the fit is airtight. Cleaning Always clean the half-mask after use. First remove the filter and remove dust with compressed air. Use a cloth to remove any stubborn deposits. If necessary, dismantle the parts and rinse in warm water with a small quantity of mild detergent. Never use solvents. The inhale and exhale valves should be removed and cleaned thoroughly and then left to dry in sunlight or near a source of heat. Dry the rubber parts at a temperature of less than 50'. Once they are dry, all of the parts should be reassembled. Disinfecting The mask must be thoroughly cleaned before disinfecting. If it is particularly dirty or is to be used by another person, clean with a little household disinfectant which does not damage the plastic or rubber parts. Finally, rinse well and dry in the manner described above. Storage The half masks are still useable should be kept in a closed container, and protected from dust, dirt, harsh light humidity, or heat sources. When moving or storing the mask, make sure that the packaging is intact and cannot be damaged by sharp objects or materials that could perforate the filters, and that the filter will not be deformed by being subjected to excessive loads. For the use limitation and all the other informations about the half mask, please refer to the User Information booklet enclosed to each half mask (ISU010_01). BLS S.r.l. Via Morghen, 20 - 20158 Milano - Italia Tel. +39 02 39310212 info@blsgroup.it www.blsgroup.it cod. 8002059 Technical Details The orinasal in soft silicone rubber offer a greater user comfort. In order to offer greater user comfort and a more secure fit, the support harness is attached to the rigid body of the half mask, not to the orinasal, therefor it does not mark the user’s face and ensures a more uniform fit.

1. Characteristics Materials Certification Certification Tests Half mask Protection against gases and vapours, dusts and mists DATA SHEET SGE 46 EN 140:1998 cod. 8002059 Pag. 1 May 2012 SGE 46 half mask with one filter is equipped with a silicone rubber orinasal in single size, an ergonomic harness with four couplings, provided with an head rest adaptable by the user connected to a supporting rigid part. The half mask comprises two lateral exhalation valves and one frontal inhalation valve fitted with a standard threaded connection according to EN 148-1 standard, to mount one particle, gas and combined filter equipped with the same connection. SGE 46 half mask is made with the following materials: • mask body: silicone rubber • rigid part: polypropylene • exhalation valve holders: polyethylene • filter holder: ABS • harness + head rest: elastic band + polyethylene Weight (without filters): 140 g SGE 46 half mask meets the requirements of EN 140:1998 European Standard and it has the CE marking according to the European Directive 89/686/EEC, as a PPE of III category. Italcert Srl (Notified Body n°0426) is the responsible of the certification (Art. 10) and of the control (Art. 11.B). The products are manufactured in a company that is ISO 9001:2008 certified. SGE 46 half mask meets the requirements of EN 140:1998 standard and has been submitted to the tests provided by this standard. • Total Inward Leakage The total inward leakeage test provides that 10 subjects carry out a series of exercises simulating the work conditions fitting the respirator. During the test, the test aerosol (Sodium chloride) is measured to see how much of aerosol passes through face seal leakage and exhalation valve leakage. Total inward leakage shall be not greater than 2%. • Breathing resistance Breathing resistance offered from the half mask must not be greater than the following values: during the test with breathing machine (25 cycles/min and 2,0 l/stroke) or continuous flow 160 l/min shall not exceed 2,0 mbar for inhalation and 3,0 mbar for exhalation. The inhalation resistance shall not exceed 0,5 mbar with continuous air flow 30 l/min and 1,3 mbar with continuous air flow 95 l/min. • Flammability The half masks submitted to test pass over a flame at a temperature of 800°C +/- 50°C with a speed of 6 cm/s. The mask shall not burn or not to continue to burn for more than 5 s after removal from the flame. • Carbon dioxide content The carbon dioxide content of the inhalation air (dead space) shall not exceed an average of 1,0 % (by volume). EN 140:1998 performance tests EN 140 SGE 46 Total Inward Leakage (%) < 2,0 0,8 Breathing resistance (mbar) inhal. 30 l/min < 0,5 0,4 inhal . 95 l/min < 1,3 1,0 inhal. 160 l/min < 2,0 1,6 exhal. 160 l/min < 3,0 1,9 CO2 content (%) <1,0 0,5 Filters 400 Series SGE 46 half mask is equipped with one gas, particle and combined filter BLS 400 series, with standard threaded connection, directly screwed to the frontal filter holder. The field of application is different depending on the type of filter used: with particle filter the fields are for example pharmaceutical industry, chemical, building, foundry, agriculture, wood making and with gas and combined filters the fields are shipyard, aeronautics, painting, laboratory. Protection Exposure limit for half mask with particle filter: Half mask + P2 = 10* x TLV Half mask + P3 = 30* x TLV Exposure limit for half mask with gas filter: Half mask + class 1 filter = 30* x TLV (or 1000 ppm) Half mask + class 2 filter = 30* x TLV (or 5000 ppm) * = APF as specified in EN 529:2005 standard (value for Italy)
