The test rig operating arm was set to act centrally against the edge of the gate body to which a nylon pad was fixed. The arm travel was adjusted to open the ga te through a minimum angle of 90 de grees at which point the arm returned to its start position allow ing the gate to close under its own spring return. The cycle was then repeated .
